# What CBAM figure does an EU buyer need for rebar from a gas DRI mill in western Algeria?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/algeria-dri-eaf-rebar-cbam-figure

Embedded direct emissions per tonne of rebar: gas used to reduce iron ore pellets, carbon and lime in the electric arc furnace, and reheating fuel. Gas based DRI runs well below blast furnace steel, so a verified actual figure usually beats the EU default.

## What goes in

- Natural gas in the DRI module.
- Electrodes, charge carbon and lime in the arc furnace.
- Billet casting and reheating fuel.
- Bought pellets are not a precursor; bought DRI or billets are.

## Electricity

Reported, not charged, for steel. Algeria's grid runs on gas, so indirect emissions are moderate.

## What to ask for

A verified figure per tonne for the product and period, and whether scrap was charged with the DRI.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible keeps each site's fuel, power and production records together, so the embedded emissions you send an EU importer trace back to dated documents.
