# Are steel sheet piles covered by CBAM?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/are-steel-sheet-piles-covered-by-cbam

Yes. Sheet piling of iron or steel, whether hot-rolled or cold-formed, and welded angles and sections for it are under 7301, which is in Annex I. Cold-formed piles carry the embedded emissions of the coil they are rolled from.

## Where the figure comes from

- Hot-rolled piles: the mill's own direct emissions and its precursors.
- Cold-formed piles: hot-rolled coil as the precursor, plus any fuel you burn.
- Electricity is not counted for steel goods.

## What to keep

Coil tonnes consumed per period, the supplier's embedded emissions per tonne, and your output in tonnes. Scrap and yield losses matter: emissions are divided over good output only.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads fuel, electricity and purchase invoices into dated, fingerprinted installation records, the starting point for the actual emissions an EU importer asks for. It does not file CBAM declarations or verify emissions.
