# How do I count emissions when my electricity bill is assessed because the meter was faulty?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/assessed-electricity-bill-faulty-meter-emissions

Use the assessed units for that month, mark the figure as an estimate, and correct it when the discom issues a revised bill or the new meter's readings settle. Keep the fault and replacement records so the change can be explained.

## Steps

1. Record the assessed units and the reason on the bill.
2. Flag the month as estimated.
3. When a revised bill arrives, replace the estimate in the right month.

## Check the estimate

Compare the assessed units with the same month last year and with production. A large gap is worth raising with the discom, for cost as well as accuracy.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads electricity bills, including kVAh, demand and solar export lines, into dated records with the units, factor and year behind every Scope 2 figure.
