# Can an EU importer deduct a Bahraini carbon price from CBAM?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/bahrain-carbon-price-cbam-deduction

Not today. CBAM lets an importer deduct a carbon price effectively paid in the country of origin, but Bahrain has no carbon tax or emissions trading scheme in force. The full CBAM charge applies, so a lower measured emission figure is the only lever.

## What a deduction needs

- A carbon price actually paid on the embedded emissions.
- Proof from the producer, with any free allocation or rebate subtracted.

## What helps instead

- A verified actual figure below the EU default.
- Lower anode effect frequency, which cuts perfluorocarbons.
- Clear product level data, so the right figure is used.

## Watch

If a carbon price is introduced later, ask for payment records per tonne from the start.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible keeps each site's fuel, power and production records together, so the embedded emissions you send an EU importer trace back to dated documents.
