# What grid emission factor should a supplier in Bahrain use?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/bahrain-grid-emission-factor-for-suppliers

Bahrain's power comes almost entirely from gas, so the grid factor sits roughly between 0.5 and 0.7 kg CO2 per kWh. Use the official or IEA figure for the reporting year and name it. Solar on your roof lowers market based Scope 2 only if you keep generation records.

## Which figure

- Location based: national grid average for the year.
- Market based: supplier specific or residual mix, if one exists.
- State both and the year.

## Records

Monthly electricity bills with kWh, and meter readings for any rooftop solar.

## For CBAM

For aluminium and steel, electricity is reported, not charged. For fertilisers and cement it counts toward the charge.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads electricity bills into dated, fingerprinted records and keeps location based and market based figures side by side, each with the factor and year used.
