# How does rooftop solar change a Bangladesh garment factory's Scope 2?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/bangladesh-garment-factory-rooftop-solar-scope-2

Solar power you generate and use on site never enters Scope 2, so grid kWh fall and location based Scope 2 falls with them. Power exported under net metering is not subtracted from Scope 2. Keep the inverter readings and grid bills so brands can see both.

## What to record

- Solar generation from the inverter, monthly.
- Grid import and export from the net meter.
- The share of solar used on site, which is generation minus export.

## What not to claim

- Exported units as a reduction in Scope 2.
- Renewable attributes you sold or that the utility claims.
- A percentage renewable figure based on generation alone.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads electricity bills and fuel invoices into a dated, fingerprinted Scope 1 and 2 record per site. Grid factors outside India must be entered from the official source for the country and year, and are labelled with that source.
