# Which grid emission factor should a Bangladesh factory use?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/bangladesh-grid-emission-factor-for-factories

Use the national grid factor for the year, from the official publication if available, otherwise a recognised international dataset, and name the source. Bangladesh's gas heavy grid sits roughly between 0.5 and 0.7 kg CO2 per kWh depending on year and source, lower than coal heavy grids.

## Be consistent

- One source, one year per report.
- Write the value and source next to the result.
- Update when a newer figure is published, and say so.

## Generators are separate

Diesel or gas generators on site are Scope 1. Do not mix their kWh into grid electricity at the grid factor.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads electricity bills and fuel invoices into a dated, fingerprinted Scope 1 and 2 record per site. Grid factors outside India must be entered from the official source for the country and year, and are labelled with that source.
