# Do India's battery waste rules affect a battery maker's carbon reporting?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/battery-waste-rules-epr-and-carbon-data

Not directly. The Battery Waste Management Rules, 2022 set extended producer responsibility for collection and recycling, and a phased minimum use of recycled material in new batteries. Those records help your carbon work: recycled content changes material emissions, and recycler data feeds end-of-life figures.

## Useful overlaps

- EPR certificates show what was recycled and by whom.
- Recycled content per battery feeds your product footprint.
- Recycler energy data can support end-of-life emissions.

## Keep them separate

EPR compliance is reported on the CPCB portal; carbon figures follow the GHG Protocol. One does not substitute for the other.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads bills, fuel invoices and production records into dated, fingerprinted records, so the figure you send a buyer can be traced to its documents.
