# A carmaker asks our Bekasi parts plant for carbon data. Where do we start?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/bekasi-auto-parts-supplier-carbon-data

Start with electricity bills and any diesel or LPG, which make up most of a parts plant's own footprint, then add the steel, aluminium or plastic bought in, which is usually larger. Give the carmaker a figure per part or per kilogram, with the period stated.

## Your own plant

- Electricity from the grid, at the Indonesian grid factor.
- Diesel for generators and forklifts; LPG for heat treatment.
- Any captive power on site.

## Materials

Steel, aluminium and resin usually outweigh the plant's own energy. Use supplier figures where you have them and stated defaults where you do not.

## Allocation

If one line makes parts for several customers, split by weight or machine hours and say which.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads bills, fuel invoices and production records into dated, fingerprinted records, so the figure you send a buyer can be traced to its documents.
