# How do I calculate dyeing emissions per kg of wool in a Bhadohi carpet unit?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/bhadohi-carpet-wool-dyeing-emissions

Add the fuel burned to heat the dye vats, from wood, coal, diesel or gas invoices converted to CO2, and the electricity for pumps and dryers at 0.710 kg CO2 per kWh. Divide by kg of wool dyed in the same month. Wood is biogenic, so report its CO2 separately.

## Records needed

- Fuel invoices with quantity and type.
- Electricity bills with kWh.
- Dyeing register with kg of wool per batch.

## Wood and biomass

CO2 from wood is reported outside the scopes as biogenic; methane and nitrous oxide from burning it still go in Scope 1.

## Cutting it

Lids on vats, reusing hot water and insulating pipes cut fuel per kg without changing the dye recipe.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads fuel and electricity invoices into a dated, fingerprinted record, so dyeing energy per kg of wool traces back to the documents behind it.
