# What is the carbon footprint of a piece of Bidri ware?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/bidri-ware-carbon-footprint-per-piece

Bidri ware is cast from a zinc and copper alloy, inlaid with silver and blackened. Most of the footprint is the metal: the zinc and silver you buy. The casting furnace fuel and polishing power are your own Scope 1 and 2. Weigh each piece to share metal by weight.

## Main sources

- Zinc and copper for the alloy, and silver wire or sheet for inlay.
- Fuel for melting and casting.
- Electricity for buffing and engraving tools.

## How to share it

Total the month's metal and fuel, then divide by kilograms of finished pieces. A heavier vase carries more than a small box.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads the energy invoices behind the making stage into a fingerprinted Scope 1 and 2 record, and keeps material invoices on the Scope 3 trail. Material factors come from your supplier or a named database and are labelled with their source, so the product figure can be traced line by line.
