# What carbon data should a Brazilian merchant pig iron exporter prepare for EU and US buyers?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/brazil-merchant-pig-iron-exporter-buyer-data

For EU buyers, a verified CBAM figure per tonne under CN 7201, because pig iron is a covered good. For US and other mills, a cradle to gate product figure they can use in their own footprint and declarations. Both start from the same records: reductant, fuel, ore and production.

## EU buyers

- Direct embedded emissions per tonne, by installation, for each year.
- The monitoring method and a verifier's report.
- Biomass evidence if charcoal carbon is rated zero.

## US and other buyers

- A cradle to gate figure per tonne, including electricity, ore and charcoal making.
- The share of charcoal versus coke and the plantation evidence behind it.
- The method used, such as ISO 14067.

## Why it pays

Electric arc furnace mills charge pig iron to lift metal quality, and its figure flows into their steel. A low, well documented number is a reason to buy from you.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads coal, coke, gas and electricity invoices and production records into a dated, fingerprinted record per site, so the direct emissions behind each tonne can be traced to the documents. Emissions factors outside India are entered from the official source and labelled.
