# Can we call our factory coal-free, and what proves it?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/can-i-call-my-factory-coal-free

Only if no coal or coal-derived fuel is burned on site, and you say what the claim covers. Grid electricity in India is still largely coal-fired, so coal-free on site is not coal-free power. Keep twelve months of fuel invoices showing no coal, pet coke or lignite, and word the claim exactly.

## Safe wording

- "No coal burned on site since April 2025."
- "Process heat from biomass and natural gas."
- Avoid "coal-free" alone if you use grid power.

## Evidence

- Fuel purchase invoices for the period.
- Boiler logbooks showing fuels used.
- Electricity source documents if you claim renewable power.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads bills, fuel invoices and production records into dated, fingerprinted records, so the figure you send a buyer can be traced to its documents.
