# Our carbon footprint jumped after we added supplier emissions. Did we get worse?

No. You counted more of what was always there. Scope 3 is usually the largest part of a manufacturer's footprint, so adding it raises the total even if nothing changed on site. Compare like with like: Scope 1 and 2 against last year, and restate last year with Scope 3 if you want a trend.

## How to show it

- Keep Scope 1 and 2 as a separate line with last year beside it.
- Show Scope 3 as a new line, with a note on which categories are included.
- If you restate the earlier year, say so and say why.

## What a buyer reads

Buyers expect Scope 3 to be large. A clear note that the increase comes from wider coverage reads as better reporting, not worse performance.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads supplier invoices into dated records with the quantity, unit and factor on each line, and marks lines without a usable quantity as needing data instead of guessing.
