# How do cardamom growers and curing houses work out drying emissions per kg?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/cardamom-drying-fuel-emissions-per-kg

Weigh the firewood or measure the diesel and electricity used by the drier for a batch, convert to CO2, and divide by kilograms of dry cardamom. CO2 from firewood is biogenic and reported separately; its methane and nitrous oxide still count. Electric driers shift it to Scope 2.

## Per batch

- Fuel: firewood kilograms, diesel litres or units from the meter.
- Green capsules in, dry cardamom out.
- Fans and blowers on the electricity bill.

## For buyers

Spice buyers increasingly ask for per-kg figures. A few weighed batches give a better number than a yearly guess.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible turns your fuel, power and material invoices into a dated, sourced activity record, the starting point for a per-unit footprint.
