# What is the CBAM default value for nuts, bolts and screws from India?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/cbam-default-value-india-fasteners

Under CN 7318, Indian threaded screws and bolts carry 5.720 t CO2e per tonne, nuts 5.140, washers 5.140, most other screws and non-threaded parts 4.270, and stainless wood and self-tapping screws 5.770. Direct emissions only, plus the 10% mark-up for 2026.

## India default values, CN 7318, t CO2e per tonne

- 7318 15 threaded screws and bolts: 5.720
- 7318 16 nuts: 5.140
- 7318 22 00 washers: 5.140
- 7318 21 00 spring and lock washers: 4.270
- 7318 12 90 and 7318 14 99 screws, non-stainless: 4.270
- 7318 12 10 and 7318 14 10 screws, stainless: 5.770
- 7318 23 00 rivets: 4.280
- 7318 29 00 other non-threaded articles: 4.270

## Mark-up on top

The listed values are increased by a mark-up: 10% for 2026, 20% for 2027 and 30% from 2028. Goods imported in 2026 always take the 2026 mark-up.

## Getting below the default

A fastener maker's own emissions are mostly heat treatment, forging and plating energy. The larger part is the wire rod or bar. Ask your steel supplier for its verified figure, add your own process energy per tonne shipped, and the total is usually below the default.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads coal, coke, gas, electricity and freight invoices into a dated, fingerprinted record per site, so an actual figure you send an EU buyer can be traced back to the documents behind it. It does not file CBAM declarations.
