# What is the CBAM default value for Indian ferro-manganese, ferro-chrome and ferro-nickel?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/cbam-default-value-india-ferro-alloys

For India: high-carbon ferro-manganese 1.690, low-carbon ferro-manganese 5.590, high-carbon ferro-chrome 2.350 and ferro-nickel 3.480 t CO2e per tonne. Low-carbon ferro-chrome shows no India value, so the table for other countries applies. Direct emissions only.

## India default values, t CO2e per tonne

- CN 7202 11 ferro-manganese, more than 2% carbon: 1.690
- CN 7202 19 ferro-manganese, 2% carbon or less: 5.590
- CN 7202 41 ferro-chromium, more than 4% carbon: 2.350
- CN 7202 49 ferro-chromium, 4% carbon or less: no India value listed
- CN 7202 60 00 ferro-nickel: 3.480

## Where no India value is listed

When the India table shows a dash, the declarant uses the value for other countries and territories in the same annex, which is usually higher. A smelter in that position gains the most from measuring its own figure.

## Mark-up on top

The listed values are increased by a mark-up: 10% for 2026, 20% for 2027 and 30% from 2028. Goods imported in 2026 always take the 2026 mark-up.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads coal, coke, gas, electricity and freight invoices into a dated, fingerprinted record per site, so an actual figure you send an EU buyer can be traced back to the documents behind it. It does not file CBAM declarations.
