# How does Senseible handle default values versus actual data for CBAM?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/cbam-default-vs-actual

Where an importer has no actual emissions data from the producer, EU default values are used, with a mark-up of 10% in 2026, 20% in 2027 and 30% from 2028 for steel, aluminium, cement and hydrogen, and 1% for fertilisers. Senseible builds actual data from your documents.

Actual data that is lower than the default value lowers your buyer’s certificate cost, which makes your goods easier to buy.
