# When can a CBAM verifier do a virtual site visit?

Only when all conditions in the Verification Principles Act are met. A verifier must have visited physically in the previous reporting period, the installation must be simple enough and unchanged, and all evidence must be obtainable remotely. The first verification of an Indian plant needs a physical visit.

## All conditions must hold

- A physical visit took place in the immediately preceding reporting period.
- The verifier understands the installation, its processes and its control system.
- Risk and complexity do not require a physical visit.
- All information, including precursors used, can be assessed remotely.
- No significant change to the installation or monitoring plan since the last physical visit.

## What a virtual visit looks like

A video conference plus documents. Staff may be asked to walk to a meter and show its reading on camera.
