# What do I enter in CDP (formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project) question 7.17.2 for latitude and longitude, and where do my trucks go?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/cdp-7-17-2-facility-rows-coordinates-and-vehicles

Enter each facility's Scope 1 in tonnes carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) with its latitude and longitude in World Geodetic System 1984 (WGS 84), the system the Global Positioning System (GPS) and Google Maps use. Vehicles that cannot be tied to a facility go in one row named "Non-stationary sources", with 0 for both latitude and longitude.

## The four columns

Facility (up to 500 characters), Scope 1 emissions in tonnes CO2e, latitude, and longitude. The question appears only if you chose "By facility" in 7.17.

## Coordinates

- Latitude runs from 90.000000 to -90.000000, for example 51.524810. Longitude runs from 180.000000 to -180.000000, for example -0.106958.
- CDP asks for WGS 84. If yours is in another datum, attach the information to the question.
- CDP says that if you do not have coordinates, web tools such as Google Maps can give them: right-click a point and choose "What's here?".
- CDP explains the data helps investors assess physical climate risk and exposure of assets.

## Vehicles and other non-stationary sources

If Scope 1 from transport vehicles cannot be attributed to a specific facility, report it collectively in one row. Type "Non-stationary sources" in the Facility column and enter 0 in both latitude and longitude.

## Checks

- Figures are gross, never negative, for the reporting year only.
- If you use import or export, check each field landed in the right column.

## Example: two plants and a fleet

- Plant 1: 180.0 tonnes, with its own coordinates.
- Plant 2: 96.0 tonnes, with its own coordinates.
- Non-stationary sources: 24.0 tonnes, latitude 0, longitude 0.
- Rows add to 180.0 + 96.0 + 24.0 = 300.0 tonnes CO2e. Check this equals the Scope 1 figure you reported in 7.6.

Example numbers. Whether the rows must add to 7.6 is my check, not a CDP rule quoted here.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads fuel invoices and electricity bills into monthly records, so the litres, kilowatt hours and months are in one place to copy from. Coordinates come from a map tool, and a fleet's diesel split by site comes from your own logs.
