# What does CDP want to know about the zero-emission power in our market-based Scope 2?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/cdp-7-30-14-zero-emission-electricity-tracking-instrument

For each country: how you bought it, the energy carrier, the low-carbon technology, the MWh used, the tracking instrument (contract, GEC, GO, Indian REC, I-REC and others) and where it was generated. It appears only if you reported a market-based Scope 2 figure.

## When it shows up

If you reported a market-based figure in 7.3 and you answered yes to purchased electricity, heat, steam or cooling in 7.30. It is not shown to RE100 members.

## Columns

1. Country or area of consumption.
2. Sourcing method, from on-site PPA, direct line PPA, physical PPA, virtual PPA, project-specific contract, retail green electricity, unbundled certificates, default grid supply backed by certificates, and others.
3. Energy carrier: electricity, heat, steam, cooling.
4. Low-carbon technology: solar, wind, hydropower by size, biomass, and so on.
5. MWh used in the reporting year.
6. Tracking instrument: contract, GEC, GO, Indian REC, I-REC, and others, or none.
7. Country where the energy or certificate was generated.
8. Commissioning or repowering year of the plant, if known.

## Details that trip people

- Where no certificates exist, the instrument can be just the supply contract: choose Contract.
- Report all low-carbon purchases, even if the factor is slightly above zero.
- If you cannot split by technology, choose the energy mix option and specify it.
- Report plants with known and unknown commissioning years in separate rows.

## Example row, made-up numbers

- Country: India. Sourcing method: unbundled procurement of certificates. Carrier: electricity. Technology: solar.
- MWh: 120. Instrument: Indian REC. Country of origin: India.
- Commissioning year: known, so give it in the next columns.

Example only.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible keeps the certificate or contract with the kWh it covers, so a market-based row can be traced to its paper.
