# How should a tile maker count pallets, cartons and stretch film?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/ceramic-tile-pallet-and-packaging-scope-3

Pallets, cartons, corner boards and stretch film you buy are purchased goods, Scope 3 category 1. Count them by unit or kg from invoices with a factor for each, and include them per square metre if a buyer wants a delivered product figure.

## Lines

Cartons by kg.

Wooden or plastic pallets by unit and weight.

Stretch film and straps by kg.

## Reused pallets

If pallets come back and are reused, spread each pallet's figure over its trips and record the trip count you assumed.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads the energy invoices behind the making stage into a fingerprinted Scope 1 and 2 record, and keeps material invoices on the Scope 3 trail. Material factors come from your supplier or a named database and are labelled with their source, so the product figure can be traced line by line.
