# Is zinc from Chittorgarh covered by CBAM?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/chittorgarh-zinc-smelter-covered-by-cbam

No. Zinc, lead and silver are not CBAM goods. But galvanised steel is, and zinc is not a listed precursor for it, so the coating does not add to the steel's CBAM figure. EU buyers may still ask for zinc's footprint for their Scope 3.

## What is covered

- Iron and steel, aluminium, cement, fertilisers, hydrogen and electricity.

## Galvanised steel

Coated sheet and galvanised structures are steel goods. Their figure covers steel making and the processing plant, including the galvanising line's fuel, not zinc mining or smelting.

## Zinc footprint

Smelting is power hungry. Keep kWh, captive power fuel and tonnes of zinc per month, so buyers get a sourced number.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads fuel, electricity and freight invoices into a dated, fingerprinted record per site, so each figure you send a buyer traces back to the documents behind it.
