# Does chromite ore face CBAM, and what figure will buyers ask for?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/chromite-mining-cbam-ferrochrome-link

Chromite ore itself is not a CBAM good. Ferro-chromium made from it is (CN 7202 4), so a ferrochrome smelter's EU importer needs emissions that include the ore. Miners can expect requests for diesel, electricity and tonnes mined per tonne of ore.

## Covered or not

- Chromite ore: not covered.
- Ferro-chromium: covered.
- Charge chrome or ferrochrome made from your ore carries the smelter's emissions, not the mine's, under CBAM.

## What to keep

Monthly diesel, explosives, electricity and tonnes of ore dispatched. These feed the smelter's supply chain figures.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads fuel, electricity and production documents into dated, fingerprinted installation records, the starting point for the actual emissions an EU importer asks for.
