# How does a coffee curing works calculate emissions per tonne of green coffee?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/coffee-curing-works-emissions-per-tonne

Add electricity for hullers, graders and polishers, fuel for any mechanical driers and genset diesel, then divide by tonnes of green coffee dispatched. Sun-dried coffee has almost no drying emissions. Farm emissions sit upstream, so report them separately if a roaster asks.

## At the works

- Grid units for hulling, grading and colour sorting.
- Driers: firewood, diesel or electric.
- Backup diesel during power cuts.

## Upstream and downstream

Fertiliser and processing at the estate come before curing; shipping to the roaster comes after. Keep each stage on its own line.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible turns your fuel, power and material invoices into a dated, sourced activity record, the starting point for a per-unit footprint.
