# Our company runs a guest house for visiting staff. Which scope do its emissions go in?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/company-guest-house-emissions-which-scope

If you own or lease it and pay its bills, it sits inside your operational control: its electricity is Scope 2 and its LPG and diesel are Scope 1. If staff stay in hotels you pay for, that is Scope 3 business travel instead.

## Inside your boundary

- Electricity bill in your name or paid by you: Scope 2.
- LPG cylinders for the kitchen, diesel for a backup genset: Scope 1.
- Refrigerant top-ups for its air conditioners: Scope 1.

## Outside it

Hotel nights booked for staff are Category 6. A flat provided by a landlord who pays the bills may be a leased asset; see who controls the meter.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads quantities, dates and units from your bills and invoices and shows the factor and source used on every line.
