# What carbon data should a contractor ask its ready-mix concrete supplier for?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/contractor-rmc-supplier-carbon-data-request

Ask for kg CO2e per cubic metre for each mix grade, with the cement type and quantity per cubic metre and the method used. Concrete is purchased goods in your Scope 3; check the cement content per cubic metre first.

## Ask for

Figure per cubic metre by grade.

Cement and supplementary material per cubic metre, such as fly ash or slag.

Whether transport to site is included.

## If they cannot provide it

Use a named database factor for a similar mix and label it, then ask again at the next tender.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads the energy invoices behind the making stage into a fingerprinted Scope 1 and 2 record, and keeps material invoices on the Scope 3 trail. Material factors come from your supplier or a named database and are labelled with their source, so the product figure can be traced line by line.
