# Is my textile or garment unit Red, Orange, Green or White under CPCB's 2025 list?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/cpcb-colour-for-textile-garment-and-weaving-units

In the entries SIDBI reproduces from CPCB's 2025 report: processing with bleaching, dyeing or printing is Red. Yarn to grey fabric on water jet machines, screen or block saree printing, and mills with 10 KLD or more wastewater are Orange. Dry garment units are Green with a boiler and White without.

## The entries, by CPCB number

- 178.1: yarn or textile processing with any effluent or emission generating process, including bleaching, dyeing, printing and colouring, including garment units doing it: Red.
- 178.2: yarn to grey fabric with water jet machines: Orange.
- 178.3: garment and apparel, doubling, reeling and two-for-one twisting, dry process, with boiler: Green.
- 178.4: the same, without boiler: White.
- 179.1: saree or fabric printing by screen, wooden block or hand block: Orange.
- 179.2: hand block printing without effluent: Green.
- 180.1: spinning, sizing and weaving mills with wastewater of 10 KLD or more: Orange.
- 180.2: the next class of spinning, sizing and weaving mills: Green. SIDBI's copy cuts off the wastewater limit, so read it in CPCB's own list.
- 181: power looms without dye or bleaching: Green.
- 182.1: reprocessing of waste textile fabric with washing, bleaching or dyeing: Red.
- 182.2: dry-process reprocessing of waste textile fabric: Green.
- 183: cotton and woollen hosiery, dry process only, no dyeing or washing: White.

## What the colours mean

- Red: high pollution, frequent monitoring.
- Orange: moderate, less frequent but regulated.
- Green: low, minimal oversight.
- White: practically non-polluting, often exempt from routine consent.

## Why it matters to a lender

A boiler moves a garment unit from White to Green. Dyeing or bleaching moves it to Red. Check your consent to operate matches the entry you fall under.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible's green loan check shows how ready your bills and records are for a green loan, and its finance application tool helps you put them in order. It does not approve loans or speak for SIDBI.
