# Can our CSR tree plantation be subtracted from our emissions?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/csr-tree-plantation-net-off-emissions

No. The inventory reports gross emissions, and a plantation is reported separately, never subtracted. Trees planted outside your operations are not removals in your inventory. Even on your own land, removals need measurement over time and their own line. You can describe the plantation as a separate climate action.

## How to report it

- Emissions: unchanged by the plantation.
- Plantation: area, species, survival rate and any measured carbon, as a separate disclosure.
- Credits: only if issued under a recognised programme, and still reported separately.

## Claims

Avoid saying the plantation makes you carbon neutral unless you follow a recognised standard for that claim.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads bills, fuel invoices and production records into dated, fingerprinted records, so the figure you send a buyer can be traced to its documents.
