# How do I calculate a fulfilment centre's emissions per parcel?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/ecommerce-fulfilment-centre-emissions-per-parcel

Add the centre's electricity at 0.710 kg CO2 per kWh, diesel for backup and forklifts, and refrigerant top ups, then divide by parcels shipped. Packaging and inbound and outbound trucking are separate Scope 3 lines. A 3PL sharing a site allocates by area or volume.

## Inputs

- Electricity bills for the site.
- Diesel invoices for generators and forklifts.
- Refrigerant refills from service records.
- Parcels dispatched from the warehouse system.

## Shared sites

If one building serves several clients, split by floor area, pallet positions or parcels, and state which.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads electricity bills (CEA grid factor 0.710 kg CO2 per kWh, CO2 Baseline Database version 21.0) and diesel, LPG and gas invoices (IPCC 2006 defaults) into a dated, fingerprinted Scope 1 and 2 record for each site. Intensity per unit uses the activity count you enter, and estimates are labelled as estimates.
