# What CBAM figure should an EU buyer expect for flat steel from Eregli?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/eregli-blast-furnace-coil-cbam-figure

A blast furnace route figure, with coke, sinter and pig iron emissions carried into every tonne of coil, usually close to 2 tonnes of CO2 per tonne. Ask the mill for its monitored figure. A Turkish carbon price can be deducted only once it is actually paid.

## What the figure covers

- Precursors made on site: sinter, pig iron and crude steel.
- Direct emissions at the rolling and coating lines.
- Not electricity, which is outside the charged figure for steel.

## Coated and cold-rolled coil

Cold-rolled and galvanised coil add their own furnace gas and carry the hot-rolled coil as a precursor. Ask for a figure per product, not one number for the whole site.

## Carbon price deduction

Turkey has legislated an emissions trading system starting with a pilot phase. A deduction from the CBAM charge needs a price effectively paid, net of free allocation, with evidence.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads fuel, electricity and production documents into dated, fingerprinted installation records, the starting point for the actual emissions an EU importer asks for.
