# Our EU importer wants CBAM data for every shipment. Is that really needed?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/eu-importer-wants-cbam-data-per-shipment

Embedded emissions are worked out per installation and product over a reporting period, not shipment by shipment. Your importer may still ask you to tag each shipment with the period's figure, CN code and installation, so their declaration adds up. Agree a format once.

## What changes per shipment

- Quantity and CN code.
- Installation where the goods were made.
- Reporting period whose figure applies.

## What usually does not

- The specific embedded emissions per tonne, which come from the period's monitoring.

## Save work

Send one data sheet per period and quote its reference on each invoice.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads bills, fuel invoices and production records into dated, fingerprinted records, so the figure you send a buyer can be traced to its documents.
