# How does an EV charger maker calculate the carbon footprint of one charger?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/ev-charger-maker-product-carbon-footprint

List the bill of materials by weight: steel or aluminium enclosure, copper cable, power electronics and circuit boards. Apply material factors, add assembly energy per unit and packaging. Electronics and copper usually dominate, so get supplier data for those first.

## Cradle to gate

- Enclosure metal, cables and connectors by weight.
- Circuit boards and power modules, ideally supplier figures.
- Assembly electricity and testing.

## Use phase

The electricity a charger passes to vehicles is not part of its cradle-to-gate footprint; standby power can be shown separately.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible turns your fuel, power and material invoices into a dated, sourced activity record, the starting point for a per-unit footprint.
