# How do we count emissions from technicians visiting customer sites?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/field-service-technician-visits-emissions

It follows who owns the vehicle. Company vehicles are Scope 1 from their fuel invoices. Technicians using their own vehicles and claiming mileage are Scope 3 Category 6, as are taxis, trains and hotel nights. A contracted service partner's emissions are part of what you buy, Scope 3 Category 1.

## Data to keep

- Fuel invoices for company vehicles.
- Mileage claims with km per trip.
- Travel and hotel bills.
- Invoices from service partners.

## Per visit figure

Divide the year's service emissions by the number of visits if a customer asks for a per-visit number, and say what is included.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads supplier invoices into dated records with the quantity, unit and factor on each line, and marks lines without a usable quantity as needing data instead of guessing.
