# How do I work out the carbon footprint of a film shoot per day?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/film-shoot-carbon-footprint-per-day

On location, generator diesel is usually the largest item at 2.68 kg CO2 per litre. Add crew and cast travel, hotel nights, set construction materials, catering and waste. Divide by shooting days. Hired generator vans with their own operators are the production's Scope 3 unless it controls them.

## Daily log

- Generator litres per day from the fuel log.
- Vehicle trips and flights for crew.
- Hotel room nights.
- Set materials and their disposal.
- Meals served.

## Studio days

Studio electricity is the studio's Scope 2; the production counts its share as Scope 3 unless it pays the bill directly.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads bills, fuel invoices and production records into dated, fingerprinted records, so the figure you send a buyer can be traced to its documents.
