# Which grid factor should an Indian group use for its overseas subsidiaries?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/foreign-subsidiary-grid-factor-group-report

Use the grid factor of the country where each site uses the power, not India's 0.710. Calculate each site's Scope 2 with its own national or regional factor, then add them up in the group report and list the factor and source per site.

## Sources of factors

- UK sites: the UK Government conversion factors for that year.
- Other countries: the national published factor, or IEA data where none is published.
- India: CEA CO2 Baseline Database, 0.710 kg CO2 per kWh.

## Market based

Contracts and certificates count only in the market where the site is supplied.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads bills, fuel invoices and production records into dated, fingerprinted records, so the figure you send a buyer can be traced to its documents.
