# What must a Frankfurt data centre report about waste heat reuse?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/frankfurt-data-centre-waste-heat-kpi

Under the EU Energy Efficiency Directive, data centres with installed IT power of 500 kW or more report key indicators every year to a European database, including energy use and how much waste heat is reused. The delegated act sets the indicators, such as the energy reuse factor.

## Who reports

Article 12 of Directive (EU) 2023/1791 covers data centres with an installed IT power demand of at least 500 kW. Delegated Regulation (EU) 2024/1364 sets what they report and how.

## What is reported

- Total energy consumption and IT energy, giving PUE.
- Renewable energy share.
- Waste heat reused, as an energy reuse factor.
- Water use, as WUE.

## National rules

Member states can add their own requirements on top. Check German law for any reuse targets that apply to your site.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads each site's monthly electricity bills into a dated Scope 2 record, keeps renewable purchase documents beside them for market-based reporting, and records diesel for backup generators as Scope 1. Customer shares use the allocation key you enter.
