# What impact data will a bank ask for if my project is funded from green deposits?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/green-deposit-impact-data-banks-ask

RBI's green deposit framework has banks report impact yearly, mandatory from FY 2024-25. Its examples: for renewable energy, energy generated per year in MWh and tonnes CO2e avoided; for energy efficiency, MWh saved and CO2e avoided; for waste, tonnes diverted from landfill.

## RBI's illustrative indicators

- Renewable energy: total renewable capacity, energy generated per year (MWh), GHG emissions avoided per year (tCO2e).
- Energy efficiency: energy savings per year (MWh), GHG emissions avoided per year.
- Clean transportation: GHG emissions avoided, infrastructure built, electric or low emission vehicles produced.
- Waste management: waste diverted from landfill per year (tonnes).
- Afforestation: GHG reduced or carbon sequestered (tCO2e).

## Why the bank needs it from you

Banks must get the allocation of green deposit funds verified by a third party every year and publish an impact assessment report. Impact assessment was voluntary for FY 2023-24 and is mandatory from FY 2024-25. The bank can only report your project's impact if you measure it.

## What to prepare

1. A baseline: a year of electricity and fuel bills before the project.
2. Metered output after: solar generation, or kWh and fuel after the upgrade.
3. The factor and source used to turn kWh or fuel saved into tCO2e.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible builds a dated record of energy use and emissions from a borrower's own bills, with the factor and source on every line, which a lender can read alongside a project proposal. Figures are self-declared.
