# How long does a GHG verification take for a small company?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/how-long-does-ghg-verification-take

For a single-site MSME with organised records, often a few weeks from contract to statement: planning, document review, a site visit of a day or two, then questions and the report. Most delay comes from slow answers to the verifier's queries, not the verifier's own work.

## The stages

1. Agreement on scope, criteria and level of assurance.
2. Document review and a sampling plan.
3. Site visit.
4. Findings and your responses.
5. Verification statement.

## What speeds it up

- A complete inventory with methods written down.
- Invoices and logbooks filed by month.
- One person who can answer queries quickly.

## Plan backwards

If a buyer needs the statement by a date, start at least two months earlier so a round of corrections does not miss it.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible keeps every figure linked to its source invoice or bill with a fingerprint, so a verifier can trace a total back to the documents it came from.
