# How do I work out CO2 per tonne of soybean meal at a solvent extraction plant in Indore?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/indore-soybean-solvent-plant-steam-co2

Add boiler fuel CO2 and electricity, then divide by tonnes of seed processed or meal produced. Steam for the desolventiser-toaster and hexane recovery is the largest share. Rice husk or soya husk fuel counts as biogenic, reported separately, with only its methane and nitrous oxide in Scope 1.

## Steps

1. Boiler fuel by type and quantity per month.
2. Fossil fuel × its factor; biomass fuel reported as biogenic.
3. Electricity kWh × 0.710.
4. Divide by meal or seed tonnes, and say which.

## Hexane

Hexane lost to air is a solvent loss, not combustion. Track it for cost and safety; it is not usually counted as CO2.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads fuel invoices into a dated, fingerprinted record, so each figure shows the quantity, factor and document it came from.
