# Is my cement plant covered by India's carbon credit trading scheme?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/is-a-cement-plant-covered-by-ccts

Only if it is named. Cement was in the first round of emission intensity targets under the 2025 target rules, alongside aluminium, chlor-alkali and pulp and paper, but coverage is plant by plant: a plant has a target only if its name and location appear in the notification.

## How to check

1. Find the Greenhouse Gases Emission Intensity Target Rules, 2025 and any amendment.
2. Search the cement schedule for your plant name and location.
3. If listed, note the baseline year, the product unit and the target for each compliance year.

## What drives the number

Calcination CO2 from clinker, kiln fuel and power. The clinker factor matters most: more fly ash or slag per tonne of cement lowers intensity, so keep clinker production, additive and dispatch records by month.

## If you are not named

You have no target, but obligated customers may ask for your energy and emissions data, and the offset mechanism lets non-obligated entities earn credits from projects under methodologies BEE has approved.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads fuel, electricity and production documents into dated, fingerprinted plant records, so the monthly intensity behind a compliance figure can be traced to its source.
