# How does a Jalandhar sports goods maker work out carbon per ball?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/jalandhar-sports-goods-carbon-per-ball

Divide the unit's electricity and fuel emissions for the month by balls made, for the making stage. Synthetic leather, bladders, thread and packaging bought in are Scope 3 and should come from supplier figures or a named database, labelled with their source.

## Making stage

Electricity kWh x 0.710 kg CO2 per kWh.

Generator diesel in litres x 2.68 kg CO2 per litre.

Divide by balls made, or by machine hours if products differ.

## Materials

For most stitched balls, purchased materials outweigh assembly. Ask suppliers for figures per kg and keep the source next to each line.

## Worked example: making stage, one month (illustrative inputs)

- Electricity: 4,000 kWh x 0.710 = 2,840 kg CO2
- Balls made: 20,000
- Per ball: 2,840 / 20,000 = 0.142 kg CO2

Quantities are illustrative; materials are not included in this figure.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads the energy invoices behind the making stage into a fingerprinted Scope 1 and 2 record, and keeps material invoices on the Scope 3 trail. Material factors come from your supplier or a named database and are labelled with their source, so the product figure can be traced line by line.
