# How does a cottonseed oil mill in Kadi work out CO2 per tonne of oil?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/kadi-cottonseed-oil-mill-energy-co2

Add fuel for the boiler that supplies steam to cooking and solvent extraction, and electricity for expellers and refining. Divide by tonnes of oil, or split between oil and cake by mass or value if buyers want both. Husk burnt in the boiler is biogenic CO2, reported separately.

## Inputs

- Boiler fuel: husk, coal or wood.
- Electricity for expellers, extraction and refining.
- Hexane top-ups for solvent extraction (Scope 3).

## Allocation

Oil and cake come from the same seed. State whether you split by mass or by value, and keep it the same every year.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads bills, fuel invoices and production records into dated, fingerprinted records, so the figure you send a buyer can be traced to its documents.
