# How much electricity and CO2 does a Kishangarh marble processing unit use per square metre?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/kishangarh-marble-processing-electricity-per-sq-m

Divide monthly kWh by square metres of finished slab or tile, then multiply by 0.710 kg CO2 per kWh. A unit using 50,000 kWh to finish 20,000 square metres runs at 2.5 kWh and about 1.8 kg CO2 per square metre. Gangsaws and polishing lines take most of it.

## Where the units go

- Gangsaws and block cutters.
- Polishing and calibrating lines.
- Water pumping and recycling.

## Add if relevant

Diesel for generators and loaders, and quarry or transport emissions if a buyer asks for cradle to gate.

## Example: one month

- 50,000 kWh ÷ 20,000 sq m = 2.5 kWh per sq m
- 2.5 × 0.710 = 1.78 kg CO2 per sq m

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads electricity bills, including kVAh, demand and solar export lines, into dated records with the units, factor and year behind every Scope 2 figure.
