# How does a shipper count emissions from moving LPG by bullet tanker?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/lpg-bullet-tanker-transport-emissions-per-tonne

Multiply tonnes of LPG carried by road kilometres and a published intensity for the truck class, or use the trip's actual diesel if the transporter shares it. The shipper reports it as Scope 3 transport.

## Two methods

Fuel-based: diesel litres for the trip x 2.68, if the transporter gives them.

Distance-based: tonnes x km x the intensity for the truck class.

## Empty return

Published averages already include typical empty running. Do not add the return leg again unless you use actual fuel.

## Worked example: one trip, distance method (illustrative load and distance)

- Load: 18 tonnes, distance: 400 km
- 18 x 400 = 7,200 tonne-km
- 7,200 x 0.0663 = 477.4 kg CO2e

Load and distance are illustrative; 0.0663 kg CO2e per tonne-km is the SFC India default for 30 to 50 tonne trucks.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads the energy invoices behind the making stage into a fingerprinted Scope 1 and 2 record, and keeps material invoices on the Scope 3 trail. Material factors come from your supplier or a named database and are labelled with their source, so the product figure can be traced line by line.
