# Does subscribing to Malaysia's Green Electricity Tariff lower my market based Scope 2?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/malaysia-green-electricity-tariff-scope-2

It can, for the kWh subscribed, if the renewable attributes are allocated and retired for your account and not claimed again. The tariff lets customers in Peninsular Malaysia pay extra for renewable supplied energy. Keep the subscription, the monthly kWh and the certificate or allocation records as evidence.

## What to check

- That certificates or attribute statements are issued and retired in your name.
- That subscribed kWh match the reporting period.
- That the same attributes are not counted by the utility for others.

## How to report

Market based: subscribed kWh at zero, the rest at a residual or grid figure. Location based: all grid kWh at the Peninsular grid factor, unchanged.

## Alternatives

Rooftop solar and corporate renewable supply schemes may give stronger additionality claims, which some customers prefer. Check the current scheme rules.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads electricity bills into a dated, fingerprinted record; green tariff kWh and certificates come from your subscription records.
