# What CBAM figure should an importer use for aluminium from Mesaieed?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/mesaieed-aluminium-smelter-cbam-figure

Ask the smelter for direct embedded emissions per tonne of the product you import: anode carbon, perfluorocarbons and cast house fuel. Electricity from its gas power plant is reported but not charged for aluminium. Use the figure for your CN code and period, not a company wide average.

## What the figure covers

- Anode consumption in the pots.
- Perfluorocarbons from anode effects.
- Fuel for holding, alloying and casting.

## Alloys and remelt

If the product includes remelted scrap or added alloying metals, the figure changes. Ask for it per product.

## Paperwork

The communication template for the installation and period, matched to your invoices by CN code and tonnes.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads fuel, electricity and material invoices into dated, fingerprinted installation records, the starting point for the actual figures an EU importer asks for. Senseible does not verify emissions or file CBAM declarations.
