# What does a Mesaieed urea exporter report for CBAM, including precursors?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/mesaieed-urea-exporter-cbam-precursors

Report the direct and indirect emissions of the urea plant and add the embedded emissions of the ammonia it consumes, which is the main precursor. Fertilisers are one of the CBAM goods where electricity emissions count. The importer needs one figure per tonne of urea for each reporting period.

## What goes in

- Natural gas burned for heat and steam at the urea plant.
- Electricity used, since fertilisers count indirect emissions.
- Ammonia consumed, with its own embedded emissions from reforming.

## Bound CO2

Urea synthesis uses CO2 from the ammonia plant. How that carbon is treated follows the CBAM implementing rules, so take the method from the current text rather than netting it off yourself.

## What the importer needs

The communication template filled for the installation, with the ammonia figure shown as a precursor.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads fuel, electricity and material invoices into dated, fingerprinted installation records, the starting point for the actual figures an EU importer asks for. Senseible does not verify emissions or file CBAM declarations.
