# How should a Morbi tile maker count the clay, frit and glaze it buys?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/morbi-tile-unit-clay-and-glaze-scope-3

Clay, feldspar, frit, glaze and packaging are purchased goods, Scope 3 category 1. Take tonnes from the invoices and use supplier or named database factors. Kiln gas and power stay in Scope 1 and 2, and transport to the plant is category 4.

## Lines to keep

Clay and feldspar by tonne.

Frit and glaze by kg, each with its supplier.

Cartons and pallets by unit or kg.

## Why frit matters

Frit is itself melted at high temperature before you buy it, so its factor per kg matters. Ask the frit maker for their figure before using a generic one.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads the energy invoices behind the making stage into a fingerprinted Scope 1 and 2 record, and keeps material invoices on the Scope 3 trail. Material factors come from your supplier or a named database and are labelled with their source, so the product figure can be traced line by line.
