# How does a Morbi tile unit show the effect of rooftop solar on its footprint?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/morbi-tile-unit-rooftop-solar-share

Report grid imports at 0.710 kg CO2 per kWh and show solar used on site as a separate line with no grid factor. The saving is the solar kWh used times the grid factor, but only grid imports go in Scope 2.

## Steps

Grid import kWh from the bill x 0.710.

Solar kWh used from the generation meter.

Avoided emissions: solar kWh x 0.710, reported separately.

## Kiln gas is the bigger line

Solar cuts electricity emissions only. In tile making the kiln and dryer gas can be larger, so show both.

## Worked example: one month (illustrative quantities)

- Grid imports: 120,000 kWh x 0.710 = 85,200 kg CO2 (Scope 2)
- Solar used on site: 30,000 kWh
- Avoided: 30,000 x 0.710 = 21,300 kg CO2, shown separately

Quantities are illustrative.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads the import units on an electricity bill and applies the India grid factor of 0.710 kg CO2 per kWh. Net-metered units are not treated as consumption, and kVAh lines get no factor until kWh is available. It does not read inverter or solar meter data.
